Security for the Common Man

The UK Government has launched a new website to help home computer users with PC Security - all written in plain English, and including an alerting service to keep you updated on new threats.

The site can be found at http://www.itsafe.gov.uk/ where you can register for these free updates.

Of course, the usual advice still counts - make sure you have Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware and Firewall software or hardware installed and kept it updated - don’t just rely on your ISP’s antivirus service, that’ll only stop email viruses. Then be careful - don’t open unsolicited attachments for example, or files sent over Messenger - they may not be what they appear, and the person who appears to have sent them may have no knowledge of the virus’ activity.
