Here we go again

Well, here we are again, following the recent problems with the blog engine here - I’ve changed it again. Now we’re running on b2evolution - which seems to be lighter on memory than it’s predecessor!

I’m still working on some of the visual aspects of the template and figuring out how to do some stuff (like post pictures) - but it’s getting there. Hopefully all the “normal” stuff like comments, trackbacks and the like are working properly now.

Those of you who were reading this via the RSS feed will need to re-create the link in your feed aggregator, as the address has changed - however there is also now a feed for new comments as well as new postings.

If you have problems, please use the “contact” link to let me know - or add a comment to this post.

Just a quick note to mention that I’ve added some photos from yesterday’s ECC AGM at Alton Towers to the Gallery, including a couple of “Rita, Queen of Speed” and the behind-the-scenes walkthrough of the Black Hole

So far, I’ve been very quiet on the hot topic of discussion in coaster enthusiast circles - “RITA - Queen Of Speed” - this is the new-for-2005 ride being built at Alton Towers.

However, now that the trackwork is complete and a few cars of the trains have arrived on site for the pull-through tests, it’s time for me to join the comments. Firstly, what is clearly fact and visible from the construction photos on Ugland Development

Proper Hours

According to the BBC - Friday Feb 25th 2005 is National Work Your Proper Hours Day - where the TUC are encouraging people not to put in unpaid overtime - partially as a statement that working unpaid overtime is not “part of the job” - if it was, you’d be paid! - nor should it be essential for you to make progress with your employer.

Personally, I don’t work unpaid overtime - if my employer wants me to work, then they can pay me to work (Unfortunately, I’m not doing my job for the excitement, the fun, the sense of achievement, or any other “higher” purpose - I sit at my desk simply to pay the bills)

How far from the mark?

In a story found today on BBC News - the question is asked - “Does your vicar beleive?”.

What follows in that article is a list of some of the "39 articles" held to be orthodox by the Church Of England (CoE). I know that this is just one denomination of the "Christian Church" - and that there are many many many others, each with their own twist on what the Bible says - and their own interpretation of the "facts" - apparently nearly 25% of CoE clergy do not beleive in the virgin birth as documented in the Gospels, even more, aren’t 100% sure about the ressurection. These are two solid fundamentals of the "modern" Christian church.

Maybe it’s good that some of the people running modern religion are asking questions about a book translated from greek and hebrew a couple of thousand years ago - and regularly re-translated over the intervening years.

A few quotes related to the time of year (yes, more “anti-valentines” stuff)… maybe I’m just bitter…
