Slammer

Following my visit to Thorpe Park (for their Rehearsal Day) - I’ve got a couple of pictures of their new ride running tests.
However the big challenge (for me at least) is the weight limit - yes, as well as the usual restrictions on height, they’ve added a restriction on weight - although how it’s going to be enforced is anyone’s guess, I can’t see them having a set of scales on the platform!
Edit - 14/03/05 14:35
James has now added links to more pictures of Slammer, Rush (although there’s not much to see yet) and the 2006 Rocket Coaster (just a lot of dirt at the moment) - See His Website for the links.

(Almost) In the Slammer
What with everything else going on at the moment, its nice to have something to look forward to. Thorpe Park opens on Wednesday and I’ve got my first trip of the year there on Saturday!Rehearsal Day was yesterday - unfortunately I had to tur…
Surely not Slammer?
Its been almost exactly a month since, if everything had gone to plan, Slammer should have opened at Thorpe Park. It eventually opened on the 28th, only to close the next day after getting stuck at the top and leaving guests in the air for h…
After queueing for 40 minutes after a debate on Colossus or Slammer, we ended up choosing the latter. I was in the line with my 3 mates and my Girlfriend, anyway.. eventually 2 of us chickened out (it does look unnerving) one being my girlfriend, hehe. ANYWAY. We got closer and Closer to the front of the line and were 3 people away from the front when the ride started off again, it span round just once when both sides are upside down and then something fell from the Ride. Pretty big, like a brick or something, we looked over at it in the bit where you split into going on which side you want to go on cos it’d landed near there it was like an L shaped thing smashed in half, the noise from it falling was pretty loud as it had fallen about 10 or 20 feet. After this we were like, uh oh. Then the slammer slowly went round till both sides of it were like almost vertical with the side on the left being lower than the other. I was so flipping lucky i hadnt of been on it. People took pictures on there phones etc. and the people on it were stuck upside down on it for about 20 minutes. And you couldn’t really lift your head round and i felt so relieved but sorry for the people on the ride as some of them only looked quite young. and they were really terrified. as we were walking away from it cos they ride operater said *There seems to be a slight Malfunction with the ride and he said stuff to the people stuck up there like there are engineers on there way* or something.. we saw 2 Engineers on the way we were going cos we were going to go on the log flume cos that could hardly break upside-down. and From the queue quite a while after.. i don’t remember exactly cos it was a little more than a day ago. but it was around 15 minutes. upside down 20 - 30 metres in the air. that they started coming down. Anyway.. be warned. Theres a video of it i think at the bottom of the Site i left.
Anyway.. Thanks for reading. That Incident Happened on the 2nd June around 16.00 i think.
Remembered that The Brick thing fell off as one Side was like completely vertical, at first i thought it was just a wallet or something as they had told people to take them out of there pockets etc. Maybe that had dislodged it i don’t know.

Also this is not the same as the one that Stopped the right way up.. if your wondering
That does not look fun. Stuck upside down for that length of time would be very uncomfortable.
