Now, I’m not a fan of Big Brother - in fact I think it’s an inditement of everything that is wrong with modern society, basically a desire to watch shallow narcisistic people suffer at the whim of an unsympathetic master - however, Channel 4 have signed a new 2 year contract - one quote from the press release makes me laugh:

“Big Brother has become a traditional and hugely popular fixture in the summertime TV calendar.”

Popular?? Have they seen the ratings recently 2.7m viewers is not popular. The new Doctor Who was pulling in much better figures, despite the hot weather!

C4 need to get perspective if they thing that 2.7m viewers is a “hugely popular” programme - maybe it is for them, but it’s certainly not when the figures for other channels are taken into account, including a “poor” outing for The Doctor, with over six million viewers.

Come, on even a six car motor race got better figures.
