Seriously Out There…

This is cool - astronomers have discovered a tenth planet (and no, Douglas Adams fans, they’ve not called it “Rupert”) which has been given the really memorable name 2003 UB313 which doesn’t exactly trip off the tounge…

However, as the map on this page from the BBC shows, it’s a long way away. A very long way away. It’s 97 times further from the sun than the Earth…

As I said, seriously out there…

    Et de 10 !
    Depuis 1930, date de la découverte de Pluton, on pensait qu’il n’y avait que 9 planètes dans notre système solaire…
    Et bien figurez-vous q’une nouvelle planète vient d’être découverte !!

    It appears that the BBC have changed the map into an image showing the relative sizes of the planets…
