I wonder if this is legal in the UK

Send back your postage paid envelopes… I already do this (just send the envelope back empty, or with the reply card not filled in) - but I don’t include extra stuff to push the weight up so it cost’s more…

Life
Do you ever find that so many bad things can happen that you just want to shut the world out, curl up into a little ball and just cry because life is so miserable and just when it seems it can’t get worse, it does - and you end up feeling physically sick with worry?

Trackback Spam
Following a deluge of trackback spam over the last few days, I’m forced to disable all trackbacks on this site.
If I can figure out a way of preventing the spam robots attacking the site, I’ll reinstate the facility, but until then, please comment on here if you are posting on your own site.
I’m also going to try and make comments require approval before they appear, in another attempt to combat comment-spam…

Dukes of Hazzard
A “spot-on” modernisation and remake of the classic 80’s car-jumping, cop chasing, moonshine running action show - the new cast are perfect, and the banter and chemistry between Bo and Luke (Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott) is just perfect - always trying to “one up” each other.
As expected, there’s a plentiful supply of the physical comedy that made Johnny Knoxville famous in MTV’s Jackass (although it’s not as crude or disgusting) and loads of on-road action.
It’s good to see that they kept a lot of touches from the show - like the Narrator saying things like “if you need to go to the bathroom, this is a bad time”
It’s pretty much exactly what a “Dukes” movie should be, fast moving and funny.

Ten Years Ago Today
A red-letter day for PC’s everywhere, as Microsoft released “Project Chicago” - better known these days as “Windows 95″. This hearalded a change in the way we used our computers - bringing in such classic ideas as the “Blue Screen of Death”, random Exception Errors, and a driver model that made life really really fun if you installed the wrong display drivers.
I actually remember where I was too - I was on a course with my previous employer, learning how to program FoxPro for DOS!

A fitting end
In a quiet ceremony in the little village where she lived, my grandmother (who passed away last week) was laid to rest today, in a plot in the small cemetary alongside the village church.
Although the weather for the drive up was atrocious, the rain held off during the short service and the burial. It was a “nice” service and was a fitting way to say “goodbye”

Google Talk is Here
Google Talk is here - and available to anyone who has a Google IM client (although as it’s based on Jabber, there are already plenty of clients other than Google’s own one!) - however it appears to be fairly well integrated into GMail itself - it’ll pick up your contact iist automatically, as well as provide alerts for incoming emails. (Link)
Is this the final nail in the coffin of the battle between MSN/AOL/Yahoo for the IM market - or is it just another protocol to have running - we’ll see…
The details for using other Jabber clients are available from Forever Geek
I have a number of Gmail (and therefore Google Talk invitations) available, so if you don’t have a GMail account and want one - give me a shout via the contact form.
