Mutilated Carols

A little guidance for anyone reading this who is thinking of going out carolling…

1: Learn Some Carols. The following songs are not carols:

  • Jingle Bells
  • We wish you a merry Christmas (Wikipedia lists this as a Carol, but I disagree)
  • Rudolf the red-nosed Reindeer

This page on Wikipedia should help.

2: Sing something resembling the tune of whichever song you’re mutilating.
3: Look Happy. There’s nothing worse than some morose teenager mubling his way through “Jingle Bells” whilst looking utterly miserable.
4: Don’t then expect money if you’ve failed to meet the first three points.

Now, I’m not against Carolling, when done right (which is rare) it’s enjoyable to have a group of organised singers who know the tune, the words and are in time with each other, singing a classic Christmas carol.

Spammers

Well, following the latest deluge of trackback spam offering various types of online gambling - it’s time to close trackbacks again - I’m so fed up with the spammers trying to use my site for their gain at my expense that I’m closing another door.

For now, there is no trackback facility available here - sorry to those of you who have used trackbacks to my site before, but it’s such a pain clearing all this spam that I simply cannot leave the door open - just as closing the door to unregistered comments has stopped comment spam, hopefully closing this door will stop trackback spam.

It’s just such a shame that the scum of the internet spoil it for everyone else. Spammers, you are not welcome here.

A nice gentle Brit-Com about a mass murderer… yes you heard right - it’s actually an enjoyable film - the violence is very “comic” - but the story is a fairly soft and gentle tail of family life, growing up and learning about life.
