The jump is complete

Well, the changeover to Wordpress is finally complete (or at least, as complete as these things ever are!)

Yes, there is likely to be a neverending series of additions and upgrades, but as things stand now the site is migrated, the templates are at the point where I’m happy with them, and things generally seem to be OK.

I’ve got a few things left to add - and some minor tweaks to the template, but I’m generally happy with the way it’s turned out.

I wish i’d done this a long time ago - the backend of this is far superior to b2evo, and the anti-spam seems more capable too (but only time will tell there)

Please note, I think I broke the RSS feeds during the migration - so please check your subscriptions - the new feeds are linked both in the sidebar (look for the orange buttons) and at the bottom of the page. Firefox will autodetect them too.

The end of Cabin Fever?

The end of the depressing winter off-season is rapidly approaching, with theme parks reopening the world over (yes, James has already been to Thorpe Park twice!)

Sunday will see my return to the parks, with a visit to Thorpe Park (meeting up with James, for whom this will be his 3rd visit in a season only a week old) and hopefully my first rides on Stealth and some other great rides for the season.

Site Upgrades

Due to some fairly serious problems with the “live antispam” functions on the b2evolution back-end and it’s associated website, I’m finally making the jump to wordpress.

I’ll try and keep the RSS feed addresses working, for those of you who use them, but I expect things to get a bit strange here from time to time over the next few days…

[Update] Well, I failed to keep the RSS feeds working, so my apologies for that - I did try! However you’ll find the new feed links at the bottom of the main page, where you can subscribe to both the main posts feed, and the comments feed.

Calling Drivers

Calling all the drivers on the Avonmouth Bridge (M5 Northbound) yesterday afternoon - here’s a lesson in road signs:

Change Lanes

This sign means you are to change lane in the direction indicated. Not blast up the indicated lane undertaking all the drivers who have obeyed the instruction.

Oh, and while we’re at it, here’s what the Law says about Fog Lights:

You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves to avoid dazzling other road users.

So, all you folks who drive everywhere with your front fog lights on - take note.

It’s not hard, really, it isn’t.

All I want is RealPlayer

I’ve just been over to Real.com to attempt to download their “free” RealPlayer.

It appears that the only obvious way to download it includes a 14 day trial for their RealMusic service, for which I have to supply my credit card details. Read more

Thinking of buying a Beemer?

Thinking of buying a beemer… well maybe you’d be better off not…

Apart from the usual reasons for not buying one (mainly the image that BMW drivers shouldn’t be allowed on the road ‘cos of they’re dangerous and inconsiderate behaviour*) - heres another one…
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/11032006/140/horror-130mph-accelerator-jams.html

That’s right 135mph and no way to stop.

* Note - I’m not tarring all BMW drivers with this brush, but when I’m on the motorway and someone is tailgating me while I overtake a truck at the legal speed limit, with their headlights on main beam - 95% of the time, once they pass, and cut me up as if I shouldn’t have been there in the first place, there’s that little blue and black disc on the back of the car…
